After riveting events around The Shatter Box, Flashbang, Feel, At Last and Lately, I’m back with Proforca Theatre to discuss And If the Surface Tension Breaks, the company’s latest new play, as well as exciting new work by associate artists also programmed during the tenth anniversary season at the Lion & Unicorn Theatre.
Cheer up. It’s not the end of the world. Is it?
In the split second before a rare (and frankly inconvenient) cosmic event tears Planet Earth to atoms, the last human alive experiences one final moment of consciousness. A one-way rollercoaster ride to the edge of the apocalypse as life, death and the universe collide one final time…
As the atmosphere evaporates, the oceans boil and the world burns, you’re invited to join us to wave goodbye to the past, live in the moment, and celebrate a future that will never come to pass, as one man hurtles from the Last Gasp to the Big Bang and back again.
And you’ll never guess what happened next…
And If the Surface Tension Breaks is about the end of the world, living for the moment, and the mother of all goodbye parties from critically acclaimed Proforca Theatre Company and the team that brought you Feel, At Last, and the Offie-Nominated creatives behind Lately (2021) and Flashbang (2022/24).
This brand-new Proforca show stars Conor Rowlett, Ben Watts, Kitty Evans and Emily O’Mahony, and is written and directed by Proforca and Lion & Unicorn artistic director David Brady.
Following the 7.30pm press night performance on Wednesday 12 February 2025, I’ll chair a discussion with And If the Surface Tension Breaks company about this latest new play from Proforca, followed by a celebration of other upcoming work by Lion & Unicorn associate artists.
(NB: Contains strong language, adult themes, sexual references, and the end of the universe.)
