The Smile of Her

Chairing post-show talks and panel discussions that give unmissable insights to audiences is my favourite thing to do. I have a wide variety of events coming up for plays and musicals across London and beyond.

Academy Award, Golden Globe and Emmy winner Christine Lahti makes her London stage debut in her acclaimed autobiographical play The Smile of Her at Marylebone Theatre.

“What happens when the smile starts to crack?”

How well do we ever really know our parents? As children, they seem larger than life. As adults, we begin to see them differently.

In this funny, tender and deeply moving solo performance, Christine Lahti looks back on the childhood that shaped her, revisiting family memories with humour, honesty and extraordinary compassion. As long-held certainties begin to unravel, she discovers that growing up isn’t just about understanding ourselves. It’s about finally understanding the people who raised us.

At once intimate and universal, The Smile of Her is a celebration of mothers and daughters, family, forgiveness and the stories that echo across generations.

Performed by Lahti herself, this unforgettable new play is a moving reminder that sometimes the greatest act of love is learning to see another person in all their humanity.

Following the 90-minute performance at 7pm on Thursday 23 July 2026, I’ll talk to Christine Lahti about the process of writing and performing The Smile of Her and why she wanted to bring the play to London. Any questions? Join us!
