SUMMARY:Live from the Warehouse
DESCRIPTION:How far will two teenage boys go to be seen online in our algorithmically-determined attention economy? After acclaim in India\, Gen-Z dark comic thriller Live from the Warehouse\, written and directed by Shashwat Srivastava\, gets its London premiere at the White Bear Theatre.  \nLive from the Warehouse is a gripping two-hander about boyhood\, betrayal\, and the algorithmic hunger for attention. Equal parts raw\, funny\, and haunting — it asks: What are we willing to lose to be seen? \nTwo seventeen-year-old boys\, classmates and dreamers\, break into an abandoned warehouse after a prank reel involving a stolen gun spins out of control. Chased by the police\, hunted by a school drug dealer\, and suffocating under the pressure to be someone\, they turn the camera on themselves. \nInside this decaying space\, they confront fear\, ambition\, friendship\, and failure — reimagining their future as actors\, singers\, podcasters… fugitives. As night deepens\, so does their obsession: if they can’t escape their reality\, maybe they can frame it. \nLive from the Warehouse is performed in English by Aryaman Krishna Aggarwal and Vrishab Wig. It’s presented by Joy Of Drama Stage Work in association with Mythologyworkshop UK. \nFollowing the 90-minute performance at 7.30pm on Thursday 9 July 2026\, I’ll chair a discussion with the Live from the Warehouse writer/director Shashwat Srivastava and the company. \nBook tickets for Live from the Warehouse + post-show Q&A

SUMMARY:The Smile of Her
DESCRIPTION:Academy Award\, Golden Globe and Emmy winner Christine Lahti makes her London stage debut in her acclaimed autobiographical play The Smile of Her at Marylebone Theatre. \n“What happens when the smile starts to crack?” \nHow well do we ever really know our parents? As children\, they seem larger than life. As adults\, we begin to see them differently. \nIn this funny\, tender and deeply moving solo performance\, Christine Lahti looks back on the childhood that shaped her\, revisiting family memories with humour\, honesty and extraordinary compassion. As long-held certainties begin to unravel\, she discovers that growing up isn’t just about understanding ourselves. It’s about finally understanding the people who raised us. \nAt once intimate and universal\, The Smile of Her is a celebration of mothers and daughters\, family\, forgiveness and the stories that echo across generations. \nPerformed by Lahti herself\, this unforgettable new play is a moving reminder that sometimes the greatest act of love is learning to see another person in all their humanity. \nFollowing the 90-minute performance at 7pm on Thursday 23 July 2026\, I’ll talk to Christine Lahti about the process of writing and performing The Smile of Her and why she wanted to bring the play to London. Any questions? Join us! \nBook tickets for The Smile of Her + post-show Q&A

SUMMARY:Three Ghosts of Silvertown
DESCRIPTION:Three Ghosts of Silvertown\, the seventh Newham Play\, is the boldest production in the series to date\, and it’s performed at Tate Institute\, the historic community building whose remarkable restoration inspired writer James Kenworth. \nThree working-class ghosts\, resurrected from the poverty and hardship of early twentieth-century Silvertown\, return to confront the inequalities of both the past and present. Determined to rewrite history\, they re-stage the famous 1889 Silvertown Strike led by Eleanor Marx. \nBut this time\, the ending is their own. \nBlending spoken word\, movement and a pulsating techno and house soundtrack\, the production fuses history with contemporary theatre in a powerful site-responsive performance. Created with a professional creative team alongside young people from Newham\, it continues the Newham Plays’ commitment to telling local stories through ambitious\, community-led theatre. \nInspired by the remarkable restoration of the Tate Institute by ReSpace Projects\, the production draws powerful parallels between the revival of a historic community building and the reclaiming of forgotten histories. Staged just yards from where the Silvertown Strike took place\, the play brings Newham’s industrial past vividly into the present. \nCreated by playwright James Kenworth\, the Newham Plays celebrate the borough’s rich heritage through site-responsive productions that combine professional artists with local communities. \nSince 2012\, the series has explored the lives of figures including Charlie Chaplin\, Mahatma Gandhi\, Keir Hardie\, Alice in Wonderland\, Elizabeth Fry and Madge Gill\, earning praise for its imaginative storytelling\, locally-led new writing and innovative use of historic spaces. \nFollowing the 7.30pm on Wednesday 26 August 2026\, I’ll talk to Three Ghosts of Silvertown‘s writer James Kenworth and the company about this latest instalment of the acclaimed Newham Plays. SUMMARY:Night City
DESCRIPTION:Night City\, Max Wilkinson’s electric and epic modern drama about three underpaid and overworked Londoners\, premieres at Southwark Playhouse this autumn.  \nMeet Jack\, Tamara and Riva. Three ordinary people. All undervalued\, underpaid and overworked. Welcome to London. \nSpanning three intersecting stories\, Night City\, written by Max Wilkinson and directed by Ebenezer Bamgboye\, is an epic modern drama with sharp\, dark humour\, incorporating movement and an electric soundtrack to explore the highs and lows of London’s under-recognised gig workers. \nRide-share driver Jack Stielitz tears through the city each night\, fuelled by anything that will keep him going as the ‘GoGo cars’ algorithm pumps him full of cash and customer ratings. That is\, until he meets Riva and the app takes a sinister turn\, leaving his body broken on Old Kent Road. \nOn the brink of eviction\, home care worker Tamara Bishop loves her many patients but struggles to juggle all their needs. When she is asked to care for elderly heiress Gigi Mitchum\, an unlikely friendship forms\, but Tamara’s morality is thrown into question. \nJust arrived in London\, young and naive waitress Riva Singh finds the city of dreams isn’t all she had hoped for.
