DESCRIPTION:After success at the Edinburgh Fringe and a UK tour\, Ned Blackburn’s award-winning two-hander An Adequate Abridgment of Boarding School Life as a Homo transfers to London’s Riverside Studios for a limited run.  \n\nA reminder that\, amidst gay narratives\, there is a heart that beats and breaks just like the rest.\n\nMeet Johnny. 18-years-old and in his final year at an all-boys boarding school. A member of the 7ths rugby team\, Britney Spears mega fan and a flaming homosexual\, Johnny fails miserably to fit into the school’s (rather rigid) mould. \nEnter Harry\, the confident\, charming and really fit 1st team rugby captain. To save a lot of time and trepidation\, Johnny and Harry shag… they shag all the time. \nAn Adequate Abridgment of Boarding School Life as a Homo follows Johnny as he ambles through daily life\, from awkward PSHE lessons\, Grindr rendezvous and hook ups in the English block loos. This isn’t a coming out story\, or a gay tragedy. It is life through the lens of a young queer man\, stuck in an institution rife with hyper masculinity and shame. \nThis acclaimed new play is written by Ned Blackburn\, who also stars with Harvey Weed. DESCRIPTION:Following two critically acclaimed runs\, Proforca Theatre’s critically acclaimed Flashbang returns to London’s Lion & Unicorn Theatre for two performances only ahead of a UK tour. \nnoun: flashbang \n1. a grenade that produces a bright flash and a loud noise so as to stun or disorient people without causing serious injury; a stun grenade. \nSet in a town “twenty miles from anywhere important”\, the play follows five best mates growing up together\, navigating nights out\, shared history and the unspoken bonds that hold them together\, until something shifts and everything changes. \nAt its heart are loveable\, recognisable young men\, written with humour\, warmth and honesty. The play reflects the lived experience of growing up in small towns\, capturing the rhythms of friendship\, identity and the pressure to hold everything together as life begins to move on. \nTold through movement\, music and direct address\, Flashbang combines high-energy storytelling with emotional precision\, creating a piece that is both immediate and deeply affecting. \nRobert Wolfe\, Charlie Jobe\, Haydn Watts and Ben Watts each play Ryan as well as different friends.
