The Last Days of Liz Truss? Q&A at The Other Palace
Liz Truss has kept herself busy since Oxia Theatre’s spring 2025 White Bear Theatre run of the one-woman show chronicling her Westminster rise and fall. A year on, I reunited with the team for this political fighter’s latest reinvention in a new production at The Other Palace.
The Last Days of Liz Truss? opens on the former PM’s final morning in Downing Street as she reflects on her improbable, bloody-minded journey to Number 10 – and, in this updated version, on her MAGA-inspired comeback beyond it.
What emerges is comic-tragic exploration of the tensions in politics: between ambition and ability, vision and reality, going short and playing it long.
Can a fighter ever truly quit?
The Last Days of Liz Truss? is performed by Emma Wilkinson Wright, who won Best Actor in the 2025 London Pub Theatre Awards for the role, written by Greg Wilkinson, directed by Anthony Shrubsall and features Spitting Image veteran Steve Nallon, who recorded Margaret Thatcher, Donald Trump, Nigel Farage and thirty other voices with whom Truss interacts.
For the post-show discussion at The Other Palace, I was joined by all four as well as that evening’s lettuce, a nod to the Daily Star vegetable that famously outlasted Truss’s 49 days in office in 2022.
The Last Days of Liz Truss? runs at London’s The Other Palace until 15 March 2026.
